When registering, use your Race Age- this is your age on December 31st of the year in which the Crank the Kanc event you are registering for takes place.
Race waivers must be signed on-line as part of registration. There is no "day of the event" Registration. Everything must be completed ONLINE at Bikereg.com prior to the Close of Registration.
START times will be posted on www.crankthekanc.org as soon as determined, generally 1-2 days after closing of Registration.
Mask use is optional.
We will have a shuttle to carry small personal bags of clothing, etc. to the Finish Area for racers- leave these at the Service Tent for transport to the Finish Area. Plastic bags will be available at the Service Tent for this purpose.
Race Service tent and Parking lot are located at the Kennett Middle School, 176 Main St, in Conway, NH and all racers should park at the school. The entrance off Route 16 to the Service tent and parking lot is to the right of the school. The Service Tent will be setup outside in the parking lot next to the Kennett SAU officeswhere you will pick up your bib, pins and any other race materials (inclement weather may move the Services Area into the School Cafe). There will be a porta-potty outside at the school, bathrooms in the school and at the Start and Finish areas.
Racers will make their way south on NH Rt 16 and then right at the Traffic light onto NH Rt 112/Kancamagus Highway to the START area at the NH Fish & Game property entrance approximately 1/2 mile from the traffic light. There will be signage to direct you from the Kennett Middle School to the Start Area.
The first scheduled 3-Person Team racers leave the START line at 8:30 a.m. Subsequent 3-person teams depart in bib number order at 2 minute intervals. All team members must be present at the designated start time.
The first scheduled Solo racer leaves the START line at 9:00 a.m. Subsequent Solo, Singlespeed, and Tandem racers depart in bib number order at 15 second intervals.
To avoid congestion in the START area, racers should arrive at the START area between 5 and 10 minutes before their designated start time. Please do not arrive at the START area earlier than 10 minutes before your start time.
Any Teams or Solo racer not present and ready to go at the START area at their designated start time is subject to disqualification.
Bibs/Numbers, pins and any other race materials must be picked up at the Service Tent on race day.
Bib/Number placement is on the RIGHT side of your jersey. The number must be clearly readable when you’re on your bicycle, in riding position, by someone standing on the right side of the road as you ride by. If your number is unreadable, your finish time might not be recorded correctly.
Per U.S. Forest Service and County Sheriff's Dept: No warm up riding on the Kanc. Racers are NOT allowed to warm up on the roadway leading up to or on the course. We suggest you bring a portable trainer to use in the Kennett M.S. parking lot to warm up prior to starting the race.
Because of the narrow and winding nature of the highway that the race is held on, THE U.S. FOREST SERVICE AND COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT REQUIRE THAT ANY FAMILY OR SPECTATOR VEHICLES PARK ONLY WHERE THERE IS A PULL-OUT. PARKING BETWEEN THE ROADWAY AND A GUARD RAIL IMPEDES THE NORMAL FLOW OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC, ENDANGERS THE RACERS, AND JEOPARDIZES THE FUTURE PERMITTING OF THIS EVENT.
For Solo and Tandem riders- drafting is prohibited. (Exception: registered 3-Person Team members can draft off fellow team members.)
Time Cut is at 12:30PM.
NOTE: Racers should not use the public restroom facilities at the U.S. Forest Service Saco Ranger Station near the START area. There will be indoor toilets at the Kennett Middle School and portable toilets at the Kennett M.S. parking lot and at the START and FINISH areas.
Snacks such as bagels, bananas, and water will be provided at the FINISH area.
Racers and those providing Racer transportation must not block or impede the roadway or access to any part of the Course and due to limited parking and available space are asked to leave the FINISH area as quickly as possible after the racer's arrival.
Racers are responsible for their own transportation back after finishing. Cycling back down, single file, is allowed. Please use caution and be considerate of traffic on the Kanc. Otherwise, carpooling is recommended.
Any Protests must be made to the Race Director at crankthekanc@mwvbicyclingclub.org,prior to or within 24 hours immediately following the posting of the results on: www.crankthekanc.org. NO OTHER PROTEST(S) WILL BE ACCEPTED.
The Race Director has the final say regarding any and all disputes.
Any participant in this event who refuses to fully cooperate with event personnel or these guidelines will be subject to disqualification.
Disqualification will result in a DISQ and forfeiture of the registration fee.
RESULTS will be posted on this web page as soon as possible after the completion of the event. -typically before 6:00PM on race day
